NSCAS State Assessment

The Nebraska Student Centered Assessment System (NSCAS) provides the district with a snapshot of where students are in relation to the Nebraska state standards. During the second semester, we evaluate students in writing, reading, math, and science. The NSCAS began with the English-Language Arts (ELA) assessment with grades 3-8 during the 2016-17 school year and the math assessment during the 2017-18 school year. These two assessments were based on the College and Career State Readiness Standards and have changed the level of expectation for our students and teachers. NSCAS also embeds the ACT as the assessment for our juniors.

As with any assessment, the goal of Beatrice Public Schools is to see growth. The charts below show the baseline data in district assessment with ELA and math as well as the trend data with science (which is based on legacy standards). As we evaluate our data, we remain focused on helping our students understand where they are and where they need to go.
