23 Helping Verbs help the main verb. The first 8 are be verbs. They show a state of being. There is no action, something just is.
EX: He is funny.
He's not doing something like running or jumping. He is just "being" funny.
EX: He can jump.
Jump is the main verb. It tells what's being said about "he". Can is the helping verb.
Irregular verbs - verbs that you can't add -ed to. You have to change the word.
