Guidelines
These are your guidelines for success.
Following these guidelines will keep you (and me) happy in the classroom.
1. Be respectful - Treat others the way you want to be treated.
2. Be responsible - Do what you're supposed to when you're supposed to.
3. Be reasonable - Do things that make sense, and expect things that make sense.
Discipline Plan
I don't use the card system that your student may be familiar with. I prefer to encourage good behaviors rather than constantly punish bad behaviors. Students who do find themselves in trouble for their behavior will usually be given the chance to earn back any lost privileges.
Love and Logic will be used to neutralize arguing. Students may argue during recess.
If a student causes a problem, they will be asked to solve it. If a student is unable to do so, they will use their recess or computer to think about solutions.
Students who become agitated will go to the Recovery area (a calm corner) to calm down.
Severe disruptions (fighting, bullying, etc…) will not be tolerated, and students will be sent directly to the office.
Students will receive frequent verbal praise.
Students will have opportunities to earn rewards by completing work and by earning compliments from others (principal, secretary, other teachers).
