Computer requirements and course materials
Also, you should have a notebook or set of file folders to keep your work in this course organized.
I suggest that you have
a front section for general information (detailed calendar, first-day handout, homework lists) and Test Review documents, and
separate sections for each week's work.
Because the material in the later part of the course depends on the material in the earlier part of the course, you will need to be able to refer to your homework and notes on earlier material when you study for tests, including when you study for the Final Exam.
I will tell you at times to "print" things. If you don't have a printer easily available, then make a folder on your computer to which you save those files, and think of it as another folder that you will look into just as you would look in your notebook.
First-day handout: (Read this, print it, and put it in your notebook.)
Detailed Course Calendar (includes all deadlines): (Briefly skim this, print it, and put it in your notebook.)
Textbook homework for Chapter 0-12: (Read the first page, skim the rest, print it, and put it in your notebook.)
How will you learn in this course?
Answer: By using the course lessons in ACC's Blackboard to work through the material in the textbook (available in LaunchPad ) and by TALKING with each other and with the instructor. Well - not all talking - mostly it's conversation through email and a Discussion Board in Blackboard. Read about the "five-minute rule." View Download
Start learning statistics: Start by using the free trial of the course materials and the free trial of Minitab. Be careful, however, that you don't use too much of your free time before the course begins. After the course begins, it is ESSENTIAL that you are able to use both of these at all times, so you will need to pay for them before, or as soon as, your free trial expires.
