Google drive let's kids collaborate and has many tools presentation, documents, spreadsheets and a drawing program.

All my kids blog and use quizlet and on line reading quizzes.

A little about me:

I have been teaching forever

I have been at AUSD for almost forever

Lesson

There's a Word for It

Technology used: Quizlet.com

Subject: Biology, anatomy and physiology

Common Core Standard(s):

Vocabulary is a pre-reading activity to enhance close reading of text or articles

Vocabulary in science classes is key. A fun way to teach the vocabulary is to have the kids do Quizlets. I pay extra so I can add pictures to my Quizlets and track student progress. EL students use the sound feature to learn how to pronounce the word. Many students study the vocabulary by playing games.

Technology Insight & Tips

I have students send tracking and send a pdf of their results but you could also printout a paper copy of a test

The extra $$ is worth it because of the tracking feature and the ability to add pictures. Students can create their own stacks for assignments. You can make a copy of their stack. I have also made timelines with stacks and key people cards.
