(Descriptions of Portfolio Items)
Team Leadership Projects:
Each semester of each year, students must take the lead on at least one project. They are graded based on how well their team works and how well they complete the tasks.
Homework Projects:
Each semester of each year, students must complete at least one job (With the knowledge and approval of their parents) around their house, or outside of school.
Yearly Final Projects:
Each year the students must complete a comprehensive final project. For Grade 12 the NOCTI practical assessment is the final project.
Notebooks and Journal:
Each year the students must keep a notebook and a journal. This can be one book, electronically, or multiple books. For the purposes of the portfolio the instructor should check to see it is there. If it is electronic, it can be attached.
Work Order:
Each student should create and continue to develop a work order that they will take with them in their portfolio.
Business Cards:
Each student should create and continue to develop a business card that they will take with them in their portfolio. This may be done with the assistance of the students from the Office Administration Classes.
Resume:
Each student should create and continue to develop a Resume that they will take with them in their portfolio. This may be done with the assistance of the students from the Office Administration Classes.
Cover Letter:
Each student should create and continue to develop a cover letter that they will take with them in their portfolio. This may be done with the assistance of the students from the Office Administration Classes.
Safety Poster:
Each student should create and continue to develop a safety poster that they will take with them in their portfolio. This may be done with the assistance of the students from the Media Arts Classes.
Tool Safety Video:
Each student should create and continue to develop a tool safety video that they will take with them in their portfolio. This may be done with the assistance of the students from the Media Arts Classes.
Tool Maintenance Checklist:
Each student should create and continue to develop a tool maintenance checklist that they will take with them in their portfolio.
Troubleshooting Checklist:
Each student should create and continue to develop a troubleshooting checklist that they will take with them in their portfolio.
Career Research Project:
Each student should complete at least one career research project for a career that they are interested in.
CAD Dream Home Project:
Each student should create and continue to develop a complete set of drawings and plans for their dream home project.
Other:
This category is for anything that might be added in the future. Additionally it is for any students that are on long-term tutoring for discipline of medical reasons. It is for any of the alternative work that they may have completed.
Future Supers Club:
Every student is a member of this club. It helps to do various events throughout the year, and there are student leadership positions available for the students.
Student Ambassadors:
There are two student ambassadors from each of the pathways at the career center, from each class (excluding freshman) for a total of 6. These are appointed by the instructor. Jobs done should be documented and in the portfolio.
Field Trip Information:
Write ups, videos, and pictures of each field trips students participated on should be included in their portfolio.
Award Information:
Any awards the students win, or even compete for should be included. For instance, in the past I have had a student that was a finalist for the Vanguard Award.
