Administration Status
1. External Review Team
Does the membership of the External Review Team include local, state or regional experts as well as additional representation appropriate to its purpose?
This can best be answered by looking at our membership.
2. Will there be a transmittal of recommendations to the BOE?
This is the whole purpose of this meeting.
3. Is there documented evidence that the agency has sufficient capacity to collect and report student and programmatic data?
We use eSchool Plus as our scheduling, reporting, and data collection software, and PDExpress for keeping track of our Professional Development. We also use Cleartrack and IEP Direct for Special Education students, and Performance Plus for testing data and exam creation.
4. Is there a Professional Development Plan in place to enable instructors to gain/maintain teaching certification as well as current technical/industry certification?
There is no contractual requirement for teachers for PD. Under our new APPR agreement it is in the best interest of the teachers to complete as much targeted PD as possible. To date, the CTE teachers have always completed well over 50 hours each year. Those are in the binders.
5. Program Outreach
There is documented, sufficient evidence that this agency has provided all students, including those who are members of special populations (i.e., students who are educationally and/or economically disadvantaged; students who are limited English proficient; students with disabilities; students who participate in programs designed to eliminate gender bias; and students in correctional institutions) and parents of all students, at least one year before the students enter or are of an appropriate age for the grade level in which career education programs are first generally available in the State, but in no event later than the beginning of the ninth grade, with information concerning:
A. The opportunities available in career and technical education
Each year we recuit to the various middle schools, including busing in students to spend the day working in our programs. Examples of these are in the binder.
B. The requirements for eligibility for enrollment in such CTE Programs
Our enrollment requirements are clearly posted in our course catalog.
C. Specific courses that are available
Our course selection is clearly posted online in the course catalog.
D. Employment opportunities
Within the Junior and Senior class all students are notified of job vacancies from various employers including Time Warner. We have worked with various trade unions to come in and speak with our students. We have worked with SJTA to try and get students jobs that are appropriate to what they are studying. We have worked with Affirmative Action to provide information to our students about CSE exams.
E. Placement.
To date, we have not had much success with this one. It is one of our constant objectives and is something we hope to do more for in the future.
6. Is there documented evidence that this agency promotes and provides that “No student shall, on the basis of gender, race, color or national origin, disability or age, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise be subject to unlawful discrimination under any career and technical education program or activity?”
Of course. This can be shown by our web site information.
CTE Program Status
Some of the documentation gathered for original certification remains current such as the teacher certification. Other documentation has been changed, totally or in part, or adapted to reflect the program’s current status.
This would only apply if we were re-certifying. All the information is new, and current. I am including where to find some of these because even though as I interpret the form they are not needed, they still apply.
The materials before you for review are those that have changed from this program’s original certification. Please give us your evaluation, rating each statement using the following assessment scale:

4 (Very Good) Meets all stated standards and criteria at a noteworthy level of quality and detail
3 (Good) Meets most stated standards and criteria at an acceptable level of quality and detail
2 (Fair) Meets the minimum stated standards and criteria at a marginal level of quality and detail
1 (Poor) Does not meet the minimum stated standards and criteria
NC (No Change) There has been no change since original certification
