This is a new monitoring form that we have adapted from an example on the NYSCTE-Technical Assistance Center website If you have participated in our external reviews before, please note that there are changes. Please review these materials prepared for SED Approval and indicate your findings in the appropriate column, with an explanation for any revisions or required actions. A copy of the actual form is attached below.
The Curriculum
- Is aligned to CDOS standards, 21st Century Skills and NYS Standards Common Core Standards
- Has been developed by CTE and reviewed by core academic teachers
- Prepares students for a technical assessment and for postsecondary education, employment, training, and/or military service
- Is directly related to available work-based learning experiences
Teacher Certification

- Is appropriately certified
- Has relevant industry-based experience
- Has access to professional training to acquire/improve skills/knowledge
Where you can find the answers to these questions:
Technical Assessments
- Are industry/consortium developed
- Have 3 parts—written, student demonstration, student project
- May be administered part by part at various times other than completion of program
- Allow for test modifications for students with disabilities
- May be retaken number of times determined by the school
Post-Secondary Articulation
- Is documented by an up-to-date agreement
- Provides for cooperative development of curriculum, instruction, student performance assessment, and program evaluation
- Specifies the credits/advanced standing for students after high school graduation
- Clearly identifies prerequisite skills, knowledge, or coursework and course sequences
- Clearly specifies the roles and responsibilities of each party
- Is endorsed by each institution and reauthorized regularly
