When we migrated our website from the old version of Google Sites to this new one, it dropped many of our sub-pages and especially many of our MS attachments. It wants things to be in Google Drive compatible files. This was only noticed when during our self study, some of our members clicked on the link only to find that it was an empty page. We have been in the process of migrating that to the new site. The old page can be viewed here. I am in the process of moving it all and putting it all on in a compatible format.
It is a bit of a big job because much of our work is done in Microsoft, but some of it is also in Edoctrina, and some is google.
DDP Course Syllabus for 2019-20
Though these are listed in order, they are not necessarily taught in this order. Most are revisited in projects throughout the class.
This class is a modification of Manufacturing Systems. Instead of focusing on just the production there is a heavy emphasis on design using the AutoCAD Suite of Software.and then the building of the projects. All projects in the class have to be done in production runs. For some of the smaller scale projects that could mean 100's. The class is divided up into 2-3 competing companies and then each project becomes a design competition. Sometimes, the companies need to work together. Students can challenge others for jobs if they want to and there is a process in place for counseling and then ultimately firing 'employees'. This is also the class in which people (staff, advisory board members, other students) can order projects to be completed for them.
The general curriculum follows the Manufacturing Systems curriculum provided by the state. Projects are given their own unit plans even though they can be fluid and change based on customer needs. In the past we have made projects supporting the Schenectady Federation of Teachers, the Reading is fun program, the Schenectady educational foundation, our own culinary program and our science classes. This year we have made Vinyl door and window stickers, buttons, pens and pencils on the lathes, and End Tables and Coffee Tables.
NYS Manufacturing Systems Guide (this is a new HTML version on the State Ed site. We were working from an older PDF, but I could not get it to link correctly.)
This class is a modification of the Residential Structures class, my old program Property Management and Building Maintenance with a heavy emphasis on design using the AutoCAD Suite of Software. The first quarter of the class is spent with the students getting their OSHA certifications through CareerSafeonline.com. It is a 10 hour certificate, but we are exploring looking into going to the 30 hour certificate. The whole curriculum for this is provided through Careersafe, and it is constantly reviewed and updated. There are other units than those included here, but with our shorter period than we used to have these are really the ones that we can get to. The supply side plumbing unit while fun, is under consideration of being dropped. Copper is expensive and rarely used anymore, and PEX is so easy it does not lend itself to lessons as well.
CAD/RC Course Syllabus 2019-20
NOCTI CAD Exam incorporated as part of the Final Exam
In addition to using the states dated curriculum guide, this was mapped to SUNY Schenectady's Curriculum and it is looked at there on a yearly basis. It also incorporates the breakdown of the NOCTI blueprint for the CAD exam into its units as well.
Unit 3 Editing Drawing, Text, and dimensions
NOCTI Review and Practice
NOCTI CAM Exam will be incorporated as part of the Final Exam
Because we only got our upgraded computers this year, and some of the other equipment has not been set up yet, this curriculum is still under development.
