Michael Hulet/Howlett and Experience Newton RHB

Michael, the son of John Howlett and Abigail Powell, was probably born in 1680 at Boston, Middlesex, Massachusetts.

Michael settled in Killingly, Windham, Connecticut before 1708 when he purchased Parkhurst’s right in that town. In 1728 land was laid out to him in that town, and he was one of the proprietors in 1730.

Michael married Experience Newton, daughter of John Newton and Elizabeth Larkin.

From Windham County many of the Hewlett siblings and their families went to Vermont. Michael, however, stayed in Connecticut.

Not certain that Experience’s last name is Newton. Her first name may even by Elizabeth.

Killingly was settled about 1693and incorporated in 1708. At the time of incorporation the borders o Killingly extended from Plainfield, Connecticut to the Massachusetts line and included what is now Thompson and much of Putnam.
