A haunting poem

I wrote this poem when I was 12 about a shipwreck. It is quite dark. Dawn loved it then, she was always so encouraging and supportive... still IS, as a matter of fact. it seems almost tribute-like to her now... it gives me chills even more now than ever.

The Shipwreck by Ashley Merritt

The demons of the deep

As if in fitfull slumber

Rustle in their sleep

And drag the lifeboats under

A struggling gasp at life

A final gasp of breath

The ending of all strife

The peacefulness of death

The wreckage on the waves

The cry of a lonely gull

The never resting graves

The endless rise and fall

As water demons leap

The lifeless bodies sleep.

I miss my friend.
