(I) had the priviledge and pleasure of meeting Dawn at Dragon*Con 2003.

To introduce myself: I'm British, and a huge Anne McCaffrey fan. I host on Anne's bulletin board, the Kitchen Table. I only met Dawn last September in Atlanta. We hit it off just fine, and spent a couple of hours one afternoon (in between guiding Anne round the Con!) discussing our love for matters Pernese and our writing.

I was so pleased that I managed to convince her to come join us on the KT, where Dawn swiftly became a valued member, particularly in the fora about writing. She is very sadly missed.

My main memory of Dawn is of the Saturday evening at Dragon*Con, when I bit off more than I could easily chew by offering to fill in for a gap in the NYRFJP skit. She literally kept my head above water by feeding me the most incredible lines. For those of you who were there, you know what I mean! For those who weren't, you missed an incredibly hysterical treat by a master wordsmith.

I don't claim that I knew Dawn well or for a long time. But in the short time that I did know her, she made an impact which will not be forgotten.

Anneli,

Thank you. But I am sure Dawn got a bigger thrill from being able to give you the hand. I think she got that trait from her mom.
