Table/House Rules

I know the DM isn't supposed to actively work against the players, but...

Table Rules

This campaign is D&D version 3.5, taking place in the Forgotten Realms.

1. If a player is absent, his character will be sidelined, or may be optionally run by players in attendance if they so choose. If the character is run by players in attendance he will not be eligible for any bonus experience points gained during the adventure (individual or group), however he will receive a normal share of regular experience and treasure.

2. If a new character is created or joins the party, his character will start at a character level equal to the lowest current character level in the party, with the minimum experience required to achieve that level.

3. All die rolls will take place within the FantasyGrounds program. All players must purchase the client version of the program.

4. Skype will be the software for voice.

5. Players will only reference Player’s Handbook or similar guides during the game. Dungeon Master’ Guide and Monster Manual are particularly prohibited.

6. When characters are addressing each other, they should do so in character.

7. If a player has e-Tools, then s/he must provide updated character sheets when his/her character levels-up. If the DM is handling the character's electronic file, the player must provide details for leveling-up by the next game or I reserve the right to assign what skills / feats / spells / etc. I think best.

8. I will give bonus experience points as a multiple of your current level. You earn one “point” for each of the following:

· Being present for a game

· Good role-playing

· Updating your character before the game

· Having an idea that significantly and positively affects the party

· Keeping a character journal

These are non-trivial awards and can add up quickly, so I recommend you try to follow at least a few of them!

House Rules

1. The adventure(s) will be based in the Forgotten Realms (FR) fantasy setting. All locations and areas other than the Kingdom of the Bloodstone Lands will be used “as is”; however, famous notables (e.g. Drizzt, Elminster) may or may not be known by your character. My customization of Bloodstone will be used, because I’m lazy and that is the material I know.

2. We play a number of years after the Kingdom of the Bloodstone Lands was established. The original Damage, Inc. and Knights of Mistmore adventuring parties are still in power.

3. You cannot have any relationships with any prior Bloodstone Lands characters from any prior campaigns as they are either adventuring before, simultaneously with this campaign or will exist later.

4. FR source material supersedes standard Wizards of the Coast (WotC) material.

5. We will use the standard initiative rules (roll once per combat).

6. We will use the 1/20 variant rules on “to hit” roles (DMG, p25). A “1” shall be –10, and a “20” shall be a 30. A “1” is not an automatic miss, and a “20” is not an automatic hit. There are NO fumble rolls.

7. We will use upkeep costs (DMG, p130).

8. No renaissance or greater technology weapons, ever. (I hate guns in D&D).

9. Identification of magic items will require use or a Spellcraft or Knowledge (Arcana) check (DMG, p212). Most magic items will not instantly impart knowledge of their purpose and function to a wielder.

10. For saving throws, a "1" is a "1" and a "20" is a "20" (plus or minus your individual and situational modifiers). There are NO fumble rolls.
