St Mary Bourne

Sunday 7th August. Away. Won by 38 runs CB 275-3 SMB 237 ao

Lucky to get this game in, with torrential rain on the journey and the promise of further heavy showers. However only 10 minutes lost in the best game of the season thus far.

Skipper Vaughan, again with the two headed coin, called correctly and took first knock.

David- the limpet-Shaw together with the in form Dom Ducellier, strode to the crease to get things off at a brisk start, with "The Limpet" again stroking his first ball through the covers for 4. But it was his partner Dom who was soon stroking the ball to all parts of the boundary, on his way to his superb maiden century including twenty fours and three magnificent sixes, until being well held by White on the boundary. The pair had set the pace by adding 171 for the first wicket. DRS ground out a very useful 41 before being trapped in front by Littleworth. Milkie Johnson 37 and Jon Burton 45* pressed on with an entertaining stand of 81 for the third wicket, with great running between the wickets to post amassive 275-3 at tea.

White and Chisslett opened the reply, with White soon going to a well held catch by keeper Shaw, from the bowling of Webb. Hyland joined the fray and the pair soon had the run rate up to match the Coombe visitors, with an unlikely victory looked to on the cards, even the introduction of stand breaker, Nick Bird failing to stop the run fest-even though he had a dolly dropped- leaving Chisslett to go on to notch a splendid and well deserved 114, with Hyland posting a well crafted 69, moving the score on with a stand of 166 for the second wicket.

It was thirteen years old Matt Burton who turned the game, diving like a hawk at cover, to flatten the stumps with a direct throw fully from thirty yards to see the exit of Chisslett, who returned to the pavilion to well earned applause. Father, Jon Burton mopped up the middle and lower order with 4-25. 500+ runs in a sporting contest!
