Sunday 4th Sept Home Won by 207 runs

Statistics and records facinate some nerdy members of our club, and for the last three or four games they have been beside themselves with records a tumbling. Ant Jeffery has held the individual record since 2009 with 147.

Along comes Dan Czaicki a couple of weeks ago and smashes it with a superb 184. Step forward the young Jack Mynott, in this very next game to claim the title with a remarkable 196!

The skipper turned up trumps yet again with his double sided coin, and took first knock on a surprisingly dry pitch, after all of the heavy showers during the week.

Jack Mynott and Matt Newman strode to the crease to take up the challenge. Jack, unfortunately, is available to us for only a few games during the season, as he is in demand for Wiltshire and South Wilts CC and his Dauntsey school. Two games and two centurys, surely he couldn't do it again! But here he was, taking control from the start and stroking the ball to all corners. Matt at the other end being the perfect partner for the young feller, allowing him to farm the strike. The record for the first wicket fell short by just 17 runs when Matt. with a well earned 65 departed to a smart caught and bowled by Grant. The pair having posted 186. Jack continued on his merry way to the ton, barely hitting the ball in the air, and timing powerfully. On fluently past his 150. The last over arrived with 6 required for the record, and 26 for his double hundred. First ball launched over the lane for six, that's one in the bag. The next two launched again for mighty sixes, the next stroked for four. Two balls left, four required, a mighty swish, stumps rattled! At stumps, a mighty 305-4 posted.

Down to the Fox for a splendid tea, kindly donanted by Sue & Keith.

In reply, our friends from the sea-side seemed to have had the stuffing knocked out of them, reeling at 54-7. That man again, Newman snaffling 3-13 & Jon Burton 2-16. Birdy & Ian Grinter helping themselves to two apiece. Jenkins at the end with a chirpy knock of 39. All out for 98.

Still, they do hold the record for CBCC's lowest score, when they bowled us out for 25 in 2009!

Jack launches another on his way to a record 196

Matt looking happy about one!
