Car Colston

Won By 34 Runs

Some of our visitors from Nottinghamshire arrived at Shutts Lane slightly hung over and lacking the benifit of some much needed sleep! However, they took to the field looking bright and chirpy, after winning the toss and electing to have a bowl.

Ant Jeffery and Chris Webb took up the challenge and had the home side off to a slow but steady start, against some accurate bowling from Cole & Wilmot. After an almighty "yes no wait sorry" mix up, it was not a happy chappie Webb, who trudged back to the pavilion! Milkie Johnson quickly followed, trapped in front by Coles. Jon Burton 68 joined AJ 64 and the pair batted very well and put on 56 before AJ fell to a fine catch by Hallam. Slow right armer Wooliscroft, then proceeded to cause havoc & grabbed 5-18 from his 6 overs, with JB watching from the other end to see none of the others reach double figures, before he was smartly stumped by Hollier, the 8th wicket to fall. At the break with 164 on the board which looked about 40 short.

After a banquet of a tea, lovingly prepared by doting mum, Sue Jeffery, (see pictures in gallery) augmented by 9 year old Dinger Hewlett's special Victoria Sandwich and creamy scones, it was back to the fray to defend a smallish total.

James Wallis and the young Matt Burton opened the pace attack, and Hollier was soon back in the pavilion in only the 3rd over bowled by Wallis. Morley18 trapped in front by Matt, Hallam 38, Gill 29, & Aston 14 all batted well to give the visitors a sniff of victory, but it was the on fire Nellie Smith who put paid to it, snapping 3-12 from his 4 overs.
