Lord Toads X1

Lord Toads X1 Andy Jones, powers his way to 105*

Poor Matt Newman, when it was all going so well!

Lost By 33 Runs

After heavy over night rain, skipper Vaughan won the toss and invited the aristocratic visitors to take first knock. A steady start by the openers, with 57 on the board, first change bowler Dom Ducillier snapped up the wicket fo Asbo(20) in his first over. Quickly followed by by Bingers (32) due to a spectacular leaping, one handed catch by Ian Gritner. Two quick wickets followed, with the visitors reeling at 76-4. Cheese joined Jones at the wicket and the pair set about the bowling with venom. A bit like the buses, haven't seen a century at Shutts Lane since 2009, and then two arrive in double quick time with Jones smashing the bowling to follow last weeks centurian, Jack Mynott to post a fine 105* Cheese (77*) saw the pair put on an unbeaten 184 for the fifth wicket at stumps to set a massive target of 260 for the home side to chase. Catches win matches and somebody must have been busy with the butter pre match,as the normally safe hands were spilling plenty!

Stuffed full by a typical CBCC tea, provided by ? and John Hopkins, openers David Shaw and Dom Ducillier set about the task. The pair set off watchfully and put on 31 for the first wicket. Ant Jeffery carved a hard hitting 42 before he was trapped lbw by the accurate Wiseman. John Burton, with his second fifty from two innings, and Matt Newman (66) glimsed a sight of victory when they added 90 for the fifth wicket but to no avail, falling short by just 33 runs when the overs ran out. 487 runs scored in a hard fought match, in a sportsman like manner can't be all bad.
