CBCC 263-4 Cadnam 235 ao Won By 28 runs

The pavilion and surrounding area seemed to be awash with players for this match, the penny dropped when it was realised that the Shrewton X1 had arrived a week early!

With on paper at least, a strong looking home batting side, on winning the toss and with the Shrewton boys dispatched, skipper Vaughan elected to bat.

Father & son Mynott opened the innings, and it was that boy again, the sixteen years old Jack who stole the batting honours with an innings of pure charm & talent. He reached his century with shots out of the coaching manual. Delicate late cuts, perfectly timed straight drives and powerful shots through the covers. He also produced some savagery with 5 sixes high over the boundary. Father 35 & son 117 set up a grand start with 96 for the first wkt.

The normally staid Skipper Vaughan joined the youngster at the crease, and played with unusual dash to notch a fine undefeated 53 with the pair adding a further 98 before Jack fell to a fine catch at the wicket by Sheath. Ben Newman weighed in with a quickfire 35 at the end.

The Cuddly One (Lorainne Newman) was IC teas. Special request apple cake on the menu, & yummy choccie cake from beaming mum Anna Mynott produced yet another CBCC feast.

At 103-6 the visitors were looking down the barrels of a bitter defeat, until Peter Eliot with a determined 71 & J.Sheath 54no grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and battled away to bring victory in this high scoring game in sight. It was not to be with the visitors falling short by just 28 runs.

Another 4 for Jack
