なぜ多くの人たちは都会に惹き寄せられるのでしょうか。いわゆる「経済の中心地」と呼ばれるエリアには、賑わいがあります。その一方で、中心地から離れていくほど、より豊かな自然や平穏さといった環境に恵まれていると言われます。それぞれの地域の特性を活かし、私たちはどういったところに何をどのように立地させていけばよいのでしょうか。よりよい社会づくり実現のために、私たちは理論経済学に暮らしやすさという概念を援用し、様々な課題解決に向けた議論を手がけています。さらに議論したことを速やかに実社会に役立てていけるよう、近隣行政との共同研究事業などを通じて地域という現場に入り、活動で得られた知見を再び学問の場（教員は学術論文、学生は卒業論文）に還元していきます。地域活動への参画は、実質的には行政機関の業務体験や社会経験の場でもあり、大学生ならではの様々な機会を提供していきます。

We have been examining the mechanism of location decision-making by various economic agents. Our primary concern is particularly given to the optimal location pattern for our society by using methodological framework of welfare economics in addition to conventional economic theory. We also provide opportunities to work with local governments for the community development, which may be useful as precious experiences as university students to learn about our system in the society.

Our seminar aims to maximise spill-over effect among the seminar members, and so we have a rigid screening process to accept candidates to our seminar. What potential candidates can do by that time is to keep stable and effective learning environment from the beginning of student life at the university.
