Davidson  —  Rolston
    Science and Religion Endowment

Holmes Rolston was awarded the Templeton Prize by Prince Philip in Buckingham Palace in 2003 and donated the prize amount (about $ 1.5 million) to his alma mater, Davidson College, where he first learned to relate science and religion when he was a physics and mathematics major there in 1953.

The inaugural person to sit in this endowed chair was Daniel Lustig, who occupied the chair for  a decade and a half, starting in 2005.

In 2022, Willa Swensen-Lengeyl was named to hold the  Rolston Chair in Religion and Science, where she is now teaching  religious ethics and environmental humanities and continues her research in moral psychology and climate inaction.
