Collaborative Collage

Reflection

During the collaborative process of this project, I had to work around the given rules, which made me stretch my thinking beyond what I immediately wanted to do and expand my ideas to think about what else was possible. It made me slow down and take some time to experiment and let the ideas flow. 

Working around Holly’s decisions made me need to take time to slow down and adapt to how my piece had changed since the last time I saw it. It made me look at my art in a different light. I liked how there was very little pressure on this assignment to look exactly the way I wanted it to. It also makes me consider what the other person’s vision for the piece is, and consider the value that vision has to me. 

I think this project will help me to reflect on the artistic choice I’m going to make, and consider what someone else might do, or in other words, try to find more than one route to take next. I like this development in my thinking. I feel like it will open the door for a better flow of ideas.
