ACUS
Our business is marketed towards those who enjoy blending both the iconic styles of the past with the exciting ideas of today. Our business specializes in unique styles of tattoos and piercings, taking inspiration from those of the past. With tattoos and piercings being almost 10,000 years old, we find it important to continue the legacy of unique art and individuality.

Brainstorming
For my design, I named the brand “acus” which means needle in latin. I used this to imitate the needle of both piercings and tattoos. For the logo, I added the handle of a medieval-looking sword to a piercing needle to bring another element of history into it. I also used a banner, which is a staple in vintage-looking designs. For my typeface, I chose a blackletter-esque font, which is one of the oldest fonts in the world and was made to imitate old english. I wanted the colors I used to be minimal and natural, focusing on the dark of the black especially to imitate ink. I also added ink stains to the banner to add another element of tattoos to my design. As well as this, I tried to imitate the style of woodcut tattoos, which is a popular and iconic style.
During this project, I learned a lot about logo design. Three of the most important aspects I learned are that the colors and shapes used are extremely important, the font needs to relate to the company/brand, and the logo needs to be something easily recognizable and iconic.
