Slab Box

I created my slab box as a graduation gift for my brother. I wanted to give it to him to remember, as well as put a small gift inside. For the design, I used stencils of lightning clouds and graduation caps. I made the color of the box a dark blue and added a tassel on the lid so it looked like a graduation cap. My brother graduated from the University of New England, so I added these aspects  because their logo/mascot it a nor’easter or a storm cloud. To tie my sides together, I made sure to add contrasting colors with light and dark. I think that the lightning clouds especially stand out against the dark blue background.

I am happy with the result of my slab box. I like how the layering of the glazes turned out and I like how crisp some of the stencils appear. If I were to change anything about it, I would use a bigger brush to make the strokes appear neater
