Essential Question: How does knowing the contexts, histories, and traditions of art forms help us create works of art and design? Why do artists follow or break from established traditions?
I like how my coil pot turned out. My favorite part of this project was carving out the designs and watching my ideas come together. For my personal elements, I added two things. I added a design of pencils because I love to draw and have been drawing for most of my life. The second personal element I added was the evil eye or the malocchio. I added this because I have worn one for a while and it relates to some of my ancestral history. If I was going to give advice to someone about to create this project, I would tell them to have a well thought out sketch of their design and carefully create the pot close to their stencil. During the creation process I would also remind them to smooth out the coils as the pot is built upward.Â
