1960年商會成立的40周年應該氏譚肇康(右二)最後一年參加商會的活動。他在1961年去世。
The celebration for the establishment of the 40th Board of Directors in 1960. It should be the last year Tam Shiu Hong (second from right) took part in BCA's activities as he passed away in 1961.
No. 180-2 Hennessy Road has been the address of The Building Contractors Association (now Hong Kong Construction Association) since 1967.
Foundation Stone Laying ceremony was held in 1966.
The original offce was in Des Voeux Road Central. It was moved to Queen's Road East in 1923 and then the Hennessy Road in 1929. The currrent building was combined with 2 adjacent buildings after negotiation with the neighbour owners.

Then Director of Public Works, Mr. Michael Wright officiated the Foundation Stone Laying ceremony. Wright designed the first public rental housing estate with private bathrooms and kitchens for the Hong Kong Housing Society, incorporating in his design for Sheung Li Uk, in Sham Shui Po, what would become known as the Wright Principle, which sought to protect human dignity and privacy.
The Housing Society’s Lai Tak Tsuen public housing estate, in Tai Hang, built in the mid-70s, is named after Wright’s Chinese name. Wright died in January 2018 at the age of 105.

The association organized many delegations representing Hong Kong to attend international conferences in the 60s. These trips and itineraries were recorded in details in the Year Book, including departure photos at Kai Tak Airport .
民航空運公司(Civil Air Transport Inc.),簡稱民航公司、CAT, 是第一家以台灣為基地的航空公司, 於1975年結業。當年採用的飛機是康維爾CV-880(初代超級翠華號Mandarin Jet).
Hong Kong Delegation departed at Kai Tak Airport to attend the IFAWPCA annual meeting. The 4th annual meeting was held in Tokyo in 1962 while the 5th annual meeting was held in Seoul. The flights they took included JAL, Japan Airlines and CAT, Civil Aviation Transport, which was a Taiwanese airlines. IFAWPCA stands for International Federation of Asia and West Pacific Contractors Association.
The Convair 880 is an American narrow-body jet airliner produced by the Convair division of General Dynamics. It was designed to compete with the Boeing 707 and Douglas DC-8 by being smaller and faster, a niche that failed to create demand. It was the fastest jet transport in the world. Only 65 Convair 880s were produced over the lifetime of the production run from 1959 to 1962. CAT and JAL both used this type of aircraft at that time.

The cabin of CAT flight, also known as The Mandarin Jet, was in traditional Chinese design. There is a gold dragon symbol at the front of the plane.

In this recently found photo, Tam Wah Ching, son of Tam Shiu Hong, was very likely attending a conference with the TBCAHK delegation in Japan.
