Ah Po 阿婆 - 鍾玉海 女仕 ( 1896 - 1999)
My grandmother passed away in October 1999, soon after the death of Saam Po. She had been suffering from stomach cancer for some years. All of us respected her as the most senior person in Tam's family. She was a traditional and typical Chinese housewife. Her long silver hair worn in a bun was her symbol. Her pass way at the age of 97 was in fact a relief as she had been tortured by the illness for too long. In my memory, she was never a hot tempered person and she never scolded her grandchildren. She was a true life fighter. During her illness, she did not complain of anything about her sickness and suffering in front of us.
To understand her life, please read the following passage written by my uncle, Mr. W. L. Tam.
