How was your overall experience with the firm?

Overall it was a good, enriching and challenging experience. Having worked in the management consulting domain before XLRI, I got a good insight into how the expectation the firm has from employees changes post-MBA.

How was the culture of the firm?

Culture was super active, both in terms of work and life outside work. They focused on inculcating an entrepreneurial mindset in all their employees, and asked everyone to put the firm first. Being a boutique consulting firm, the office layout was such that Senior Directors shared the same table space as interns, and hence there was a strong sense of approachability with everyone.

What were your top learnings from you internship stint?

My top 3 learnings from my internship experience were:

a. Always think of “so what” before starting any analysis

b. Keep all contingencies handy while going into a client meet

c. Make notes

If you think in retrospective what would you have done differently?

Possibly spending more time understanding the business problem. Having joined the project midway, I had to do a lot of analysis from the get go, and hence took a bit more time to get a sense of the business landscape. Should’ve focused on it initially itself.

What kind of project did you work on?

I worked on a post-merger integration of a portfolio for a major Pharma MNC. Being the only analyst-level employee under 3 Managers in the project, there were loads of instances of helping out the managers through the course of the project
