Welcome grade eights! We are so happy to meet you. This page is all information on GCI music department!

Are you an experienced instrumentalist? Have you played a band instrument at your middle school? Want to learn to play the guitar? If so we have a course for you!

If you don't have any experience in music that's okay too! We have several options for grade nines interested in Music. GCI Music department is filled with opportunities. See below for more information about choosing a course.

  • Instrumental music-experienced band (AMI 10I)

What to expect in music courses:

  • listening to different types of music

  • learning how music is constructed using the elements of music and music theory

  • learning how to read music

  • learning why you like listening to your favourite types of music

  • composing your own music and creating covers using technology

  • making music with your classmates in an ensemble

  • learning how to sing or play an instrument of your choosing

  • reflecting on your progress as a musician
