The purpose of ESL/ELD programs

The ESL program (English as a Second Language) is designed for Multilingual Learners to build their English language skills and further their knowledge of content courses in English. The ELD program (English Literacy Development) is designed for Multilingual Learners who have missed some schooling in their home country. Both programs targets English language development including listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

The ESL/ELD program prepares you for and helps you with:

-The language required to be successful in mainstream classes

-Opportunities for leadership and other programs within the school and outer community

-Going off to college or university

-Settlement worker support for students and families
