Kia Ora koutou katoa!
It has been awesome to have had so many students share their love of learning with me since the start of the new term. From explanations about electrical conductors to successful statistics, body systems, football skills, and more … the learning vibe is truly alive at Woodlands Park School!
Our staff are currently engaged in Writer’s Toolbox a tool used to enhance our delivery of Writing for our students. Next week we begin the coaching phase, where teachers will co-plan and refine their practice skills alongside our WTB coach. We will continue to share updates on the positive impact this PLD is having on our students' learning experiences.
This week, our staff are participating in mandatory first aid training, ensuring that we stay updated with our emergency response skills in the workplace.
We are in the fortunate position to have a great pool of relievers who support the school when teachers participate in professional development throughout the year - your child’s teacher will let you know in advance when they are out for PLD.
There have been several political announcements from our current government about changes in the education sector. As a school, we are cautious not to allow the release of information to divert our attention from our core business and instead prioritise our primary focus on the teaching and learning of our students. We do however support the significant work being undertaken by local and national peak educational bodies to ensure a collective commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and cultural responsiveness, ensuring that every learner receives a high-quality education that enables them to be successful in life.
Our Year 5/6 EOTC camp is fast approaching and we are grateful to F45 - New Lynn for supporting families to fundraise for this event. Scroll down to see how you can get involved!
We have had a number of new entrant students and families join us this term - a very warm welcome to you all!
