Kia Ora koutou katoa!
Our students are on a fascinating journey into the world of human biology. By exploring the intricacies of the human body, they are gaining a deeper understanding of how our organs and systems work together to keep us healthy and thriving!
We have been experiencing the usual winter illness culprits a little earlier going into the winter season - like all schools across Auckland, it is not always easy to get relievers when our teachers are sick. We thank you for your understanding when our last resort is for your child to join another same-level class for the day.
Woodlands Park is excited to host our first international group of students next term. Year 6 students from Hangzhou Primary School, Shanghai, China will be visiting for a week with their teachers. Thank you to our families who will be hosting during this time, we look forward to our exciting week of opportunity for cultural exchange and global connection.
Last week our staff participated in our local schools' professional learning day at Kaurilands School. Over 300 teachers met together and engaged in workshops ranging from developing awareness and understanding of neurodiversity to emotional regulation, equity in education, Tapa Sa, and the impacts of artificial intelligence. It was a great day to share knowledge, foster collaboration, and gain new insights that will enhance our teaching practices and positively impact our students. The energy and enthusiasm left us feeling inspired to transfer this learning across our classrooms.
Teachers are currently assessing and reporting on progress made across the curriculum. You will receive your child’s midyear report in the last week of term in preparation for student-led conferences. This report is designed to inform you of the learning across the wider curriculum as well as how their Literacy and Mathematics progress is tracking. We also provide feedback on your child's development in peer relationships, social skills, and extracurricular activities, as well as how they are going with our school values.
Our awesome PTA are organising a fun secondhand market day - see below for details. We look forward to seeing you there on the day.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our school community and we hope to see you all soon for our Matariki Celebrations.
Ngā mihi,
Nardz Stephenson

A message from Tania Smit - Office manager at Woodlands Park Kindy
Woodlands Park Community Kindergarten on Minnehaha Ave currently has openings for tamariki aged 2 - 5 years old at their nurturing and vibrant kindy. It's a place where laughter, friendship, and learning thrive. The supportive environment empowers tamariki to explore, grow, and create memorable experiences every day. There are strong ties between the kindy and Woodlands Park School, which fosters an easy transition to school. They would love to hear from whānau who would be interested in joining their kindy community. www.woodlandsparkkindy.co.nz
