This week we learnt about diversity and the importance of respecting each other. We are all special and unique! In Maths we continued to practice our place value skills, using hundreds, tens and ones. In IPC we learned about cerebrospinal fluid and its function to protect our brains. We learnt how to carry out an experiment and record our results. There were some scrambled brains in Year 3 as we learnt how important it is to look after ourselves and how we can look after our minds! We are becoming experts in the brain!
This week in literacy we learnt about different parts of speech; nouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and pronouns. In Maths we practiced our place value skills, using hundreds, tens and ones. We know how to flexible partition numbers up to one thousand. In IPC we learned about the different parts of the brain and their important functions. We are becoming experts in the brain! This week in ICT Ms.Lara taught us how to search online. We have been very busy!
This week in literacy we started reading in groups, practicing to spell high frequency words and we started our Talk for Writing programme. We read the story of 'My Strong Mind' and we retold the story in our own words using a story map. In IPC we became learning detectives. We visited P1 to investigate what makes their classroom such a great learning environment and we realised that everyone learns differently and needs different things to help them learn.
In maths we continued learning about the place value of numbers from 1 to 100. We were counting on a number line. We know how to partition and find numbers on a number line. It was tricky but we are practicing this new skill with our resource folders.
This week we celebrated Roald Dahl day! We dressed up as our favourite characters from the authors books and presented our character to the rest of the class. It was very fun to dress up and we were brave to present our characters infront of the class.
On Friday we celebrated Mexico's Independence Day! We had a lot of fun dancing and we ate a lot of delicious food! Viva México!
This week we started our new IPC unit, Brainwaves! We learnt about our brain and how we can use it to learn lots of new and different things every day, enabling us to gain the knowledge, skills and understanding that we will need to become successful now and in the future. We visited the science lab in secondary and were able to touch a real cows brain! It was amazing to see parts of the brain under a microscope.
We visited the library to read and change our books independently and to meet Ms Pam. We learnt how to behave in a library and we had a great time!
Welcome to P3A! We had such a fun first week of school! We settled into our new classroom and played lots of fun games to get to know each other and our new teachers, Ms Heather and Ms Montse. Together we decided important rules to make our classroom the best place for all of us to learn, stay safe, and to feel comfortable coming to school.
