Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
Thank you so much for supporting our Year 6 Summer Fair. We hope you had as much fun attending as we had running it. We are so proud of what we achieved - the atmosphere was amazing! We haven’t had a chance to count up the money just yet, but we’re feeling really optimistic about the total.
Despite the buzz of fair preparations this week, we still managed to squeeze in plenty of exciting activities, including the Year 5 and 6 House Swimming Gala (well done, Earhart!), some welly-wanging at Box Hill, and lots of learning too.
In Latin, with Miss Henson supporting the Pre-Prep Outdoor Learning Day, we used the opportunity to research Roman roads and create our own presentations. Did you know Roman roads almost have as many layers as a lasagne? In Maths, we revised metric units of measurement, practised calculating the area of triangles, and explored how to find the area of parallelograms. In Humanities, we completed our Russia knowledge organisers, identifying key geographical regions, and used cartoon sources to investigate the causes of the Cold War.
In English this week, we had enjoyed reflecting on our Outward Bound adventure last week and written thank you letters to our instructors in Howtown. We have also revised punctuating speech and using interesting reporting clauses and of course, prepared for the Summer Fair!
Have a lovely weekend - see you back on Monday 2nd June.
