Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
What a jam-packed week we’ve had in Year 1! From exciting class assemblies and outdoor learning adventures to the fantastic Year 6 Summer Fair, it’s been a busy but thoroughly enjoyable few days.
In the classroom, we’ve been exploring multiplication and division, and we’ve been so impressed by how far the children’s skills and understanding have developed. In English, we’ve been hard at work creating non-fiction books all about owls — the children loved discovering and sharing fascinating owl facts!
Our outdoor learning sessions saw the children using their problem-solving skills and resilience as they explored creative ways to measure trees — a brilliant hands-on experience.
The Summer Fair was a huge success, filled with laughter, games and community spirit.
We wish you all a wonderful half-term break and look forward to welcoming everyone back for our final half term in Year 1!

THE WEEK AHEAD:In our first week back, the children will be creating a short biography about themselves as part of our topic on non-fiction texts. To support this activity, we would be grateful if you could send in 4–5 photos of your child that they would like to use to illustrate their writing. These could include pictures of where they live, who is in their family, their hobbies, or anything else that helps them tell their story. Thank you for your support!
Thursday 5th June: Whole School Art Exhibition 3.30-5.30pm in the School Hall - every pupil will have a piece of artwork on display.
