Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week saw us frisking in a beautiful meadow at Morden Hall Park, searching for wild flowers and comparing our finds to those on a lawn. We had a lovely day enjoying a workshop, identifying plants and making careful sketches of their different parts. And the rain just about held off! In the classroom we are putting lots of energy into our fabulous rainforest posters. We have been using an online resource to learn to draw in the post impressionist style of Henri Rousseau's stunning rainforest paintings. Our creations will form the centrepiece of our posters.
Meanwhile we are discussing global warming and will use our thoughts for additional information. In Science we each dissected an alstroemeria to examine and label its inside parts. We reviewed what we have learnt about money and moved on to revisit capacity, which involved a lot of very pleasing pouring of water. We found out about Lakshmi, goddess of wealth and prosperity, and in Classics looked at slavery and wrote down reasons we would not enjoy being a Roman slave.
Have a wonderful half term week and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for the very last few weeks in Year 3!
