Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
It has been a busy and productive week in Year 2. In Maths, the pupils built on their existing knowledge of fractions. We began with finding quarters and halves of lengths, then moved on to finding thirds of shapes and quantities. In English, we worked on newspaper reports based on ‘Aisha the Superhero Princess’, identifying report features, storyboarding events, and writing reports. In Science, the children continued to observe and record the growth of their sunflower seeds and learnt all about the life cycle of a bean plant. In History, we found out about the explorer Marco Polo and the children created a fact file about his life. In Geography, we continued our ‘Let’s Go on Safari’ topic and practised using compass points to navigate around a safari map.
Thank you to everyone who visited the Travelling Book Fair, we hope you are enjoying the books you chose. Also a BIG thank you to everyone who donated books for the Children's Book Project to share with families who are less fortunate.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
