In recent weeks, we have held two insightful assemblies focused on deafness and autism. During these assemblies, our children enjoyed learning some basics of sign language, highlighting the diverse ways people can communicate. This week, our celebration of the 'superpowers' of autism continued with a special music assembly featuring Jean and Theo. Theo, a talented tuned percussionist, captivated us with his exceptional xylophone talents, showcasing a variety of playing styles.
As the spring weather graces Wimbledon, our outdoor educational trips have offered our children hands-on learning experiences. The Year 3 pupils visited the Sir John Soane Museum to enhance their understanding of ancient Egypt. Meanwhile, the Year 4 class explored Morden Hall Park.
A big thank you to Mrs Battey who has excelled this term with not one, but three whole school events, enthusing us all with her love of English - from World Book Day, the House Spelling Bee to this week’s Travelling Book Fair. Thank you all for your generosity with these ventures.
Between the 13th and 17th of April next year, we will be embarking on our second cultural trip, this time to Barcelona. If you have visited Barcelona, you will know it is a city brimming with the most amazing culture and a place where the combination of art, sport, music and food come together to create an extraordinary experience. This trip is for pupils in Years 4 to 6 as of September and is shaping up to surpass last year's Verona trip. If you are interested, please click here to secure your spot.
This week I have been in communication with Emanuel School in Clapham, who are keen to put on a coffee morning for our parents to discuss 11 + entries in the coming years. I will be writing shortly with an invitation to visit the school in the near future. This will be for parents currently in Years 4 and 5.
Excitement is brewing for Year 4's upcoming production of Peter Pan next week. The children have approached rehearsals with great enthusiasm, and I hope you can join us to support what promises to be a spectacular event, indeed, one of the biggest productions we have put on in recent years.
Please also keep an eye out for a communication regarding the return of our annual charity golf day, which we hope to have in the diary at the beginning of June. I'll be writing shortly with the finalised date and I hope you will join us on what promises to be a fun occasion where all abilities will be able to come along and enjoy themselves, even if only at the 19th hole.
Lastly, on Thursday, Ms Callaway will be hosting our Spring Concert and, this year, our Reception children will be performing for the first time. I know everyone has been working hard on their performances and it's the perfect opportunity to enjoy a number of our ensembles. I shall look forward to seeing you all there.
I hope you all have a great weekend. KB
