Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
This week, it really feels like Spring is here, with the beautiful blue skies and lighter mornings.
Year 6 have been focusing on observational drawing, inspired by photos of their shoes. The boys have taken their time to look closely, at what is really there in front of them. Year 5 have been developing their embroidery techniques, and I am so impressed that all of the boys have now been able to thread a needle, and create a "back stitch" - a type of stitch which creates a continuous line. Year 4 have started designing and crafting a "marble maze," which they are all very excited about. I have been very impressed with the Year 3 children, who have begun to paint their clay dragon eyes, using metallic paint to create a three dimensional effect.
In Pre Prep, Year 2 have been printmaking, Year 1 have been learning how to work with wax crayons and watercolours, while Reception have been learning to shade "soft" and "hard" while colouring fruit cross sections.
As always I am so impressed with the quality of the children's work and their imaginative outcomes.
It is now just over a week until the Arts Festival, which will be hosted the 31st March -2nd April. I am so excited for some of the brilliant workshops that will be going ahead over this week, so please do look out for the letter regarding this. I have attached the brochure below! There will be three after school workshops for parents and children to enjoy, but the spaces are limited.
