Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
Congratulations to all children in Years 4-6 who rose to the challenge of auditioning for Chamber Choir. 45 children participated in these and made the selection process extremely difficult, as each brought something unique and special to the process. I will be contacting families individually with the outcome this weekend - please contact me if feedback from the audition is wanted. Regardless of the outcome, I hope each child is proud of participating in this opportunity.
The music topics for the term are well underway with Nursery children settling into their new music room and activities very confidently! Years 1 and 2 are focussing on their rhythm reading skills and Year 1 have begun exploring the String family, while Year 2 have already created a class composition. Year 3 are exploring musical 'ingredients' and 'painting with sound' while Year 4 are creating, performing and notating rhythm patterns. Year 5 continue to develop understanding of how to use the pentatonic scale and Year 6 have started their journey exploring musical history, starting with the Medieval period.
Our first Orchestra, Music Scholarship and Music Theory sessions were enthusiastically attended and I am excited about all that these musicians will achieve.

Instrumental/LAMDA Lessons - applications still open
If your son or daughter is keen to begin learning an instrument or taking LAMDA lessons in this academic year please see the Willington Music website (link below) for further information on our tutors and lesson provision, and to find an application form. There are vacancies for all instruments, voice and LAMDA.

Chamber Choir rehearsals will commence: members should be in the Music Room ready to start at 7.45am on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
All music clubs will run as per the Clubs schedule - remember any equipment that is needed for your session and a small snack for after-school clubs.
