Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
It has been a wonderful first full week back, and the children have amazed us with their resilience and positive attitude. In phonics, we have been revisiting the black cat letters (ll, ff, ss, zz, ck, nk) as well as exploring long and short vowels. In maths, the children have enjoyed fun games while developing their addition and subtraction skills.
In English, we have been reading One Snowy Night. The children have practised segmenting words for writing, used dots and dashes, acted out and freeze-framed their favourite parts, and even started to plan their own versions of the story. In History, the children loved bringing in their favourite toys and talking to their friends all about them—such a lovely way to connect past and present.
The Lego room has also been a highlight, with so much creativity on display! Science brought us a messy but exciting experiment—“Mr Twit’s wormy spaghetti”—as we tested our sense of touch.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
