This week, our learning has been full of exciting new topics and challenges! In maths, we’ve started fractions, a tricky concept, but we've shown great determination. Our English lessons took us into the action-packed world of chapter 19 of Danny. We captured the excitement by creating storyboards that brought the events to life. In science, we conducted a fun experiment to discover which materials conduct heat best. Using spoons made of metal, plastic, and wood, we placed a pea in margarine on each one and stood them in boiling water. The metal spoon won the race, as it is the best heat conductor!
History lessons focused on the Roman invasion of Britain, where we designed fact posters. In geography, we explored North America and learned it consists of 23 countries. In RS, we discussed the Tower of Babel and reflected on examples of healthy and unhealthy pride. Our classics lesson introduced us to the Latin verb “to be” – esse – and we formed sentences using adjectives to describe characters.
In music, we composed rhythmic ostinatos to accompany a Mozart Contredanse and began layering melodic patterns. In computing, we improved our algorithms using the 'buttons' and 'repeat' functions. French class had us revising numbers and practising counting backwards from 15 to zero. We also continued learning about food, using role-play to practise conversations and even created comic strips on the topic. In art we finished our beautiful watercolour train project. These pieces have received much admiration as they are now all proudly displayed. Additionally, we learnt the skill of drawing 3D trains using one-point perspective.
