Another busy week in Year 1, and we really enjoyed the chance to wear our yellow accessories on Hello Yellow Day, raising awareness of and support for mental health.
In English, we became poets as we wrote our own version of Eleanor Farjeon’s ‘Cats Sleep Anywhere’, complete with rhyming couplets. In Phonics, there were further split digraphs to discover, with the help of Miss Oh No, Cool Blue and U-Hoo. Our Maths lessons saw us embarking on our multiplication journey by counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
Our adventure through the senses in Science focused this week on hearing, as we compared the sounds audible in the playground and classroom. Mrs. Whittaker even showed us how her hearing aids work - amazing! In History, we were sorting and describing old and new toys, while in Geography, we were reflecting on our local area.
We are very much looking forward to the opportunity to discuss the great progress the children are making at our first Parents' Evening next week.
Have a lovely weekend!
