This week in Reception, we began with a wonderful trip to Wisley Gardens, where the children were immersed in the vibrant colours of flowers and autumnal nature and discovered some minibeasts. Back in class, we had a fun apple tasting session, sampling granny smiths, golden delicious, and jazz apples, and created a class bar chart to show their favourites.
In phonics, we covered three new sounds: ‘e,’ ‘u,’ and ‘h.’ The children expressed their creativity by making collage Elmer elephants, stained glass umbrellas, and clay hedgehogs, ready for hibernation.
In Maths, we reached a milestone of learning numbers up to 10. The children practised ordering the numbers and enjoyed playing a missing number game.
We also conducted our first science experiment, "travelling colours," where the children watched in amazement as different colours travelled through white tissue paper.
We wish you a lovely weekend.
