Thank you for all your harvest donations for The Wimbledon Guild.
The Wimbledon Guild are always responding to community needs and donations, this year will be allocated to:
Homefood Café – Subsidised meals for (mostly) elderly clients who are independent, but cooking at home is challenging or tedious. Most live alone. They have seen a rise in customer numbers from about 25 to 40 a day since last year.
Activities Lounge – clients are often independent, but some need practical and emotional support to leave home to socialise. As with after-school clubs, the provision of biscuits is a genuine incentive to attend!
Welfare – financial support to any Merton resident in need.
Reaching out further into the Community
We have started a new journey this year, reaching out more into our community. Each term we will be visiting Queens Court Barchester Care home. Over the course of the year, children will be given the opportunity to visit the care home and take part in a range of activities. This week our helping hands crew were selected from Year 4. They took part in a range of Halloween themed activities from colouring to word searches.
"It was really calming and I liked getting to chat to the residents " Ayshani
Queens Court Barchester Care home also run monthly Monthly Menopause events, free for all who attend. The next one is on Wednesday 23rd October.
