Happy Willington Harvest Festival day! We were really proud to help organise all of the schools amazing donations. It has been such a busy week, but we have had a great time learning new skills from an Olympic athlete and celebrating National Poetry day, to name but a few things!
In this weeks Accelerate programme, we used the strategy of reading the questions first for comprehensions, which worked well. We then practised our mind mapping skills, using information from our Holes to learn more about the yellow spotted lizard. We also read Robert Louis Stevenson's 'Travel' poem for National Poetry Day, and looked at how he used semicolons! In Science this week, we started our new topic on Electrical Circuits, focusing on the most common circuit symbols and learning how to accurately represent real circuits through precise diagram drawing. In Latin we were researching the Roman site of Vindolanda, where our text book is based, and created posters for the museum there.
In Humanities, we completed our Hurricane fact files and for National Poetry day, we summarised our learning about Ancient Sumeria so far into an acrostic poem, before starting to unpick what the Sumerian epic of Gilgamesh reveals about this fascinating ancient society. In French we’ve been naming objects found in a bedroom and started learning about prepositions of place, so we can create sentences to describe our own bedrooms, which was really fun!
Have a great weekend!
