Year 3 are still in ancient Greece, finding out about the original Olympic Games and completing a quiz on the different events. We learned about Hoplite soldiers and designed our own shields. Our Theseus stories are really taking shape now as we write them out neatly and illustrate them. In Maths we are practising tricks to help with mental maths, adding 9 and 11, doubles and near doubles.
In the Science lab we did a sticky experiment with treacle, flour and sugar to observe how our bodies process sugar much quicker than starch and we looked at the information found on food labels. We brought drama into PSHE, acting out scenes using strategies to resolve conflict with a mediator leading the discussions, and in RS we thought about and drew our individual perceptions of God. In Classics we sorted our new Roman friends into their family tree and learnt the vocabulary and we had huge fun taking part in the whole school fitness marathon with the great Victoria Ohuruogu.
