Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
In English, we had to correctly punctuate sentences and in our comprehension lesson we were using the skill inference to answer some questions. We also wrote our own nonsense poems, which we found really hilarious. We had a lot of fun rehearsing our spring term play Pantastic and we can’t believe we are almost the whole way through! We have been doing short and long division in maths and have had to work on our mental toughness because the long method was a bit tricky. In science we did a experiment to look at the properties of states of matter. We also tested to see if slime was a solid or a liquid but it is actually a non-Newtonian fluid.
In history, we had lots of fun learning about the Aztec gods and goddesses. They believed that there was an afterlife and that it was an honour to be sacrificed to the sun god Huitzilopochtli. We looked at OS map symbols in geography and in RS we were learning about Mandirs, the Hindu place of worship.
In art, we began to make clay trees. We were learning about how to search efficiently and quickly in computing: you only use the key words you need to add. In French we were learning about accessories and clothes like shirts, ties, sunglasses.
The highlight of the week was taking part in Cross Country. It was a bit chilly and very muddy, but we had a great time!
