Happy Lunar New Year.
This week we are celebrating the year of the ‘Snake’ 2025.
The children thoroughly enjoyed learning and practicing Chinese writing activities, such as Chinese calligraphy which involved using stencils to form some bright and colourful chinese sylibols which represent Love, Luck, Long Life, Health, Wealth and Happiness,
This activity also gave the children the opportunity to demonstrate their progressing hand and eye-coordination and pencil control skills.
As it is the year of the snake the children began making snakes using gold paper plates and lots of red tissue paper, and of course the googly eyes proved a great success to finish off our snakes.
We learnt all the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac and using simple animated stories on the interactive board we learnt about the emperor and the great race which proved to be very popular and the children soon grasped the meaning.
and learnt they were either born under the year of the Rat or Ox which they all found amusing.
We continued to find out more about the dinosaurs this week investigating the flying dinosaurs and learning yet more new dinosaur names especially the pterodactyl species and painted some lovely pterodactyls using the palette paints.
Our letter of the week is ‘N’ . The children came up with some great objects beginning with the letter ‘N’ such as nurse, net, and their own names.
