Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
It's been a chilly week outside and a very muddy one on the games field but energy has been flowing in the classroom. "The Twits" seemed to require one more chapter so we each wrote one! All sorts of horrible new tricks were devised - and we used the exercise to revise the use of speech marks. We also used the book's text to think about how a playscript works and turned a section of the story into a piece we can perform. Meanwhile, we're typing up our versions of the balloon trick for a colourful wall display. We finished our Science topic on magnets with some quizzes and are working on measuring, converting measurements and area and perimeter in Maths. We're still roaming around the world spotting different types of extreme weather. Did you know that it has been centuries since the Atacama Desert saw a single drop of rain?
We learned about the Jewish festival of Purim, when the saving of the people from Hamam is celebrated with food and drink for friends and those in need and in PSHE we covered some basic rules of first aid. For Classics we read a new story about the Governor coming to dinner and are now discovering what the Romans ate and how the rich feasted. In Drama we continued with our story about a king who banned all spoken word, and tried communicating by mime - quite successfully!
Have a great weekend.
