Willington Prep - Celebrating 140 years - 1885-2025
It has been another busy week for Year 6. We have really been enjoying making our websites for the Willington Engineering day in our Computing lessons - but it was even more fun taking part in the main event today! The whole school were so impressed with our Engineering day websites - but special mention needs to go to Charlie and Hudson, for their website that was voted the most technically impressive by Mr Brown - Well done!
Of equal excitement this week was the start of the much anticipated Summer Fair project preparations! Our groups have been busy working on a variety of ideas for our stall activities and calculating a sample to survey. In Maths lessons we revised how to construct triangles using a protractor and a compass. We then moved on to constructing some quadrilaterals which we used to investigate the diagonals. This culminated in us creating a Carroll Diagram to sort the quadrilaterals into those that have perpendicular diagonals, or not and those that have bisecting diagonals, or not.
In English we have been learning about the start of WW2 and looked at Neville's Chamberlain's speech to the nation. We then researched the causes of the war and the impact on British society and each created a presentation to present our findings. In Humanities, we have been learning about Italy, specifically Florence, in the 1500's and creating a holiday brochure to help the powerful Medici family advertise their superior city state.
In Drama this week, we have continued our character script read-through for the much-anticipated Leavers' Production. The school hall was filled with laughter as we enjoyed the comedy, and each others unique interpretations of our roles. Ms Wilkinson said that it's evident that this year's production is shaping up to be a good one, and we're having lots of fun bringing it all together!
Have a great weekend!
